Learning Activities for Anytime, but Especially during School Closures

While children are home from school and parents look for activities to keep them busy, I’m posting some free language learning resource links that may be helpful. Parents can also scroll through my posts here to find activities that I uploaded previously.

Above all, be kind to yourselves and look for some beauty and humor to brighten your day. I’ll get you started with some thoughts on spelling and speaking by Winnie the Pooh:

“How do you spell love?” asked Piglet. “You don’t spell it, you feel it,” said Pooh.

“My spelling is Wobbly. It’s good spelling but it Wobbles, and the letters get in the wrong places.”

“It is more fun to talk with someone who doesn’t use long, difficult words but rather short, easy words like “What about lunch?”

Here are some learning sites that I recommend:

  • “Learning from home? We’ve got the essential advice and activities you need to bring the classroom home with you! Our team of expert parents and teachers is always hard at work to make sure you have the tools you need to keep your little ones building new skills and having fun along the way.”  https://www.learningresources.com/free-at-home-learning-essentials

  • “The secret is one that schools know well: Make a routine. Kids are used to following a schedule, so making a blueprint for the day will help everything fall into place. It’s a lot easier than you might think. Grab a pen, paper and actually map out how the days will look at home. The goal is to keep kids busy and learning while allowing you to get other things done too.”              https://time.com/5803373/coronavirus-kids-at-home-activities/
